August 5: So what did I miss?

In which, I return from a month off to find the world is still here in all its mess and glory.

So, I took a month off for vacation and dissertation work, and I come back to find…. Well, the world is largely where we left it: “wars, rumors of war… famines and earthquakes in various places…” 

I don’t say that to be glib, but as a way of putting the world in perspective a bit.

Knowing what’s going on in the world is important, but it’s not all-importa…
