The briefest Weekly Brief, in brief
The Weekly Brief - September 27, 2019
OK, so as I noted in last week’s Brief, I’m moving this week and switching over Internet service and all that Jazz, making an up to the minute Brief difficult to pull off. I was fully committed to providing you with an update on the Tim Talks Politics podcast that launched in August, but then this Ukrainian phone call business went wild and now we’ve got the House going all in on an impeachment inquiry. What to do?
Well, I could supply you with a link to the memo/transcript/notes of the call that has been released, or the backstory on just what Hunter Biden was doing in Ukraine to begin with.
I suppose I could’ve also provided you with representative articles from conservatives and liberals on how they’re taking the news of this latest Trump scandal.
But, I ultimately realized that announcing an impeachment inquiry, while news, isn’t impeachment itself and that this story is likely going to be around next week.
That being said, I still want to bring you up to speed on this podcast thing I’ve been doing.
If you haven’t had a chance to listen to the Tim Talks Politics podcast yet, then a weekend without a full brief would be a great time to get started. I’ve now got 8 episodes up for your listening pleasure on Apple podcasts and Anchor.
So far, the episode fall into three categories:
Conceptual ideas on how to think about politics (Episodes 1-3)
A mini-series on the Declaration of Independence (Episodes 4-6)
An ongoing series on international relations and American foreign policy (Episodes 7-8, so far)
Essentially, I’m trying out some different topics, subject matter, and formats to get a sense of what people might find most enjoyable, so if you do listen to any of this, I’d love to hear your feedback via email or reviews.
This “first season” of the podcast is set to run through October, then I’ll take a short break to write some papers, welcome a new baby to the family, and celebrate the holidays before returning to the soundwaves again in early 2020.
So here’s my question for you: As a ready of the Weekly Brief, do you find the podcasts to be a good complement to the newsletter you know and love? Assuming you like the podcasts, if there was one thing you could keep and one thing you could change about it, what would those things be?
Thanks for being such a great and encouraging audience, I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and don’t lose too much sleep over impeachment news!
Final word:
